Squirrels will chew at the opening to gain access, in the process larger birds and other predators are able to find their way into a nest you thought would be perfectly safe.<\/p>\n<h2>Squirrel-proofing birdhouse entrance holes<\/h2>\n<p>Keeping the entrance to your birdhouse safe from squirrels and other predators is simple to do. First, make sure you\u2019ve set up the nesting box far enough from trees and shrubs that squirrels cannot easily jump from branch-to-box. Prevent this by opting for a birdhouse with a longer overhang on the roof or by adding a roof guard.
